At the graduate level, degree programs in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) involve intensive study within the area of study. Based on your goals, your program could focus on informatics, cyber security, mechanical engineering, biostatistics, sustainability, or something else.

Graduate programs in technology explore how IT can be leveraged to solve human problems. While the details of your program will vary depending on your school and area of study, you can expect to build a broad base of knowledge and skill in a variety of different areas.
If you pursue a Master’s of Science, your course of study will focus on highly technical fields like mathematics, civil engineering, chemistry, biology, or physics. That said, most STEM programs spend some amount of time in the humanities as well. For example, in a technology program, you’ll study hard skills (like coding) as well as soft skills (like communications).
Some graduate programs in STEM also have a business slant, offering classes on administration or management. Before earning your degree, you may also be required to do extended graduate research or write a thesis.
