Built for Adult and Transfer Students
For more than 50 years, the University of New Hampshire has been committed to expanding access to higher education for adult learners. Originally founded to serve working adults through evening and weekend classes, the College of Professional Studies continues that mission today by offering flexible, career-focused degree programs that respond to the needs of today’s workforce. Nearly half of all college students nationwide are age 25 or older, and UNH CPS is built with this “nontraditional” student experience in mind.
Flexible Learning Options in New Hampshire and Online
Adult students at UNH CPS can complete their degree primarily online, with the option to take select courses at the Manchester, New Hampshire campus—located in the state’s business hub. Courses are taught by experienced faculty who bring real-world expertise into the classroom and are trained to support online student success. Small class sizes, a low student-to-faculty ratio, and personalized academic advising help ensure students receive the guidance they need from enrollment through graduation.
Transfer-Friendly Pathways and Credit for Prior Learning
UNH CPS is especially transfer-friendly, with more than 89% of students bringing in prior college credits. The college works closely with community colleges and evaluates professional training, certifications, military experience, and prior learning to help students maximize previously earned credit and finish their degree faster. Students may transfer up to 90 credits, reducing both time and cost to completion.
Career-Focused Support from Start to Finish
Beyond academics, the College of Professional Studies offers robust career and student support services tailored to adult learners. From success coaching and career planning to resume support and employer partnerships, students are encouraged to apply what they learn in real time to their professional goals. With affordable tuition, strong financial aid participation, and a long-standing commitment to adult education, UNH CPS provides a supportive environment where working students can move forward with confidence.
